About Us

In 1993 the firm was established by Elisabeth Seaman to provide mediation services. In 1994 Jack Hamilton joined the firm as her partner and together they expanded the company’s offerings to provide facilitation, coaching and training services. In 2005 Hillary Freeman joined the company as a partner. She has since moved on to other pursuits. However, she still works with the partners of Learn2Resolve on various projects. In 2010, Sharlene Gee joined us as a partner, having collaborated with us in various capacities in recent years.

Since 1982, Elisabeth Seaman has mediated with individuals and groups to help them reach mutually satisfactory resolutions to their conflicts. She is on the roster of mediators for the Superior Courts of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, and she presents communication skills in workshops and seminars related to conflict management, diversity, and violence prevention. She trains board members, managers, and staff to develop and motivate teams and to deal efficiently and constructively with disputes that impact productivity and the workplace atmosphere.

Elisabeth also coaches individuals in effective communication for personal and professional purposes. She presents at national and international conferences and has published articles relating to conflict resolution. Elisabeth has been honored for her contributions by San Mateo County and the California State Legislature. Elisabeth studied at the University of California at Berkeley and received a B.S. in Education from Boston University. Elisabeth loves to help people discover peaceful resolutions to their conflicts.

Jack Hamilton has held positions as an instructor at Stanford University, as a senior research scientist at the American Institutes for Research, as director of executive services at the Institute for Information Management, and as co-founder of The Information Group, Inc. He holds a B.A. from Harvard, an M.A. from the University of California, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Stanford.

Jack believes we are at a time in the world when embracing diversity among people and groups is of vital importance. He believes that his mission as a conflict-resolution professional is to teach people how to realize their common destiny of coming to a truer understanding of who they really are, rather than what their thoughts about others often lead them to believe.

Sharlene Gee believes that out of conflict can come growth, change, and peace. It starts with two people willing to talk; sometimes a neutral third person can help. Sharlene has mediated disputes for the City of Mountain View Mediation Program (since 1999) and for the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center in San Mateo, California. She has facilitated different youth, organizational and civic/community issues. She has taught and coached conflict resolution and communication skills workshops at universities and nonprofits, and has led anger management sessions at the San Mateo County Women’s Jail.

She was the 2006 recipient of the Gil Lopez Award, presented by the Association for Dispute Resolution Northern California. This award is given to an individual person of color and/or multi-cultural team for creative interventions to conflict and violence. Sharlene holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and Santa Barbara, respectively. In the high tech world, she has worked in a variety of capacities, including technical trainer, manager, and as a patent consultant.
